After burying Dobby at the garden of the Shell cottage, Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) convinces Griphook (Warwick Davis) to help them get to Lestranges vault in Gringott’s, to retrieve one of Voldemort’s Horcruxes in exchange for Godric Gryffindor’s Sword. Meanwhile, Ollivander (John Hurt), the Wandmaker warns Harry that he won’t stand a chance with Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) who has the Elder Wand. They arrived in Gringotts, Hermione (Emma Watson) disguised as Bellatrix (Helena Bonham Carter), using a Polyjuice Potion, Ron (Rupert Grint) disguised as a random wizard while Harry and Griphook go under the Invisibility Cloak. With the help of Imperius curse, they manage to get to the carts that take them down to the vaults, but when their cover is blown, Gringott’s security attacks them. They manage to get to Lestrange’s vault and finds the Horcrux, Helga Hufflepuff’s Cup, at which Griphook betrays them and flees with the sword yelling “Thieves! Thieves!”. Harry grabs the Horcrux and the trio escape using a captive dragon. They are saved by Aberforth Dumbledore (Ciarán Hinds), Albus’s brother, who Harry has seen through the mirror that he has. The trio use a passageway to Hogwarts provided by Aberforth, with Neville Longbottom (Matthew Lewis) leading the way. The group arrives at the Room of Requirement where Dumbledore’s Army made a resistance from Snape’s regime. As headmaster, Snape (Alan Rickman) has turned Hogwarts into a lifeless prison. Harry confronts him in front of the entire school by saying, “How dare you stand where he stood. Tell them how it happened that night. How you looked him in the eye, a man who trusted you, and killed him” (referring to Albus Dumbledore). Minerva McGonagall (Maggie Smith) intervenes and fights Severus, who flees to his master. Meanwhile, Voldemort has summoned his army and surrounds Hogwarts.

Fast & Furious 7

Fast & Furious 7

Fast & Furious 7

This movie has gone from racing movie to 007. I just can’t explain the number of stunts i have seen in the preview of this movie. Although its kinda sad because Paul Walker which is one of the most paid actor in the movie passed away but from the comments and reviews online, his brother has seem to fit the roll for Walker to make sure the fans of this movie really get what they want.

The Story-line picks from from where Fast 6 left off, now Jason Statham is the Bad guy, together with the entire cast of the furious gang are back to show hell to Jason. The whole plot surrounds them getting a device to track Jason because he’s like a black ops kinda ex-marine soldier kinda guy and he’s not track-able. fortunately they find a hacker who is created a device that literally can track anyone in the whole. This is as far as fiction goes.

Never-the-less, one of the interesting parts i just loved to see was the jumping of building using a car, 3 buildings to say, this has to be the worst lie you can ever see in a movie, but hey its a movie.

Always an exciting feature to see a furious movie and i hope it does well, based on the previous it has already done well. Can’t wait to watch it.

A SHOOTING CONSPIRACY- waiting for facts

The news of the shooting down   of the Malaysian plane MH17 over the skies of Eastern Ukraine   is indeed a very unfortunate tragedy happening  barely 4 months since the loss of MH 370, my heart goes out to the deceased and their loved ones. In total 295 people have lost their lives in such manner, whether there are survivors ,at this moment there are doubts.Reports say the plane was flying from Amsterdam to kuala Lumpur. In the midst of all this there has been a series of claims and counter claims, heated accusations back and forth going on between the parties that are most possibly involved -The Ukrainian military, the rebels in the East of Ukraine and the Russian military. Although it is too early to specifically pin point who is responsible at this time, it would indeed be revealed when the evidences are reviewed and revealed , so only time will tell, but unfortunately what i have noticed is the speed with which parties from different sides are quick to point fingers without proof – at this point in time some have claimed that this could not have been done by the rebels in the East judging by the height and speed the plane was flying- about 10,000km above ground, the argument is that the plane could not have been hit by shoulder launched surface to air missiles (SAM) but by much more sophisticated truck carried SAMs possessed only by two principal actors- Ukraine and Russia, although both sides have come out to strongly deny any involvement – it is almost certain at this point that the plane was shot down, so the questions remain,  who brought it down ?-Was it done using surface to surface missiles ? – another point is the fact that the downing most probably was accidental, mistaken for a military transport plane or was it a deliberate target, i doubt- some have even suggested it was mistaken for President Putin’s plane. At this time no one knows . This tragedy is happening a few days after two other Ukrainian  planes were shot down, with Ukraine accusing Russia of  the attack,  an accusation rejected by Russia. One more thing to ponder is that  the commercial airliner should have known that these were troubled skies and should have taken a more safer route- all these are questions that beg answers. Minutes after the incidence, bodies of the crashed victims had started showing online- rather disrespectfully i would say, but this shows the reach of the internet and how it affects our lives and  daily events.

News reports say that the rebels in the East have agreed to a temporary ceasefire so as to allow access to the crash site, the parties that would be involved in the investigation. We sincerely hope that this incidence will be thoroughly investigated by all the parties involved  and will not be used to  settle scores  or make cheap political  statements .

At a time like this the world should stand together with the Government and people of Malaysia and the families involved.

Ghosts of Iraq

When the west led by the united States invaded Iraq in 2003, little did they know that eleven years latter they would have to defend there actions or inaction in that middle eastern country.

Rumsfeld-1

Today we hear comparisons between the Crimea annexation by Russia and the invasion of Iraq by the United States -President Barrack Obama had earlier reiterated the point in an audience of European leaders at the Palais Des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, Belgium that there was no basis for comparison –  well we can say they are similar in one way- both were not backed by a United Nations mandate, rather they were unilateral actions carried out by countries with enormously powerful armies. Now the striking difference is that the Crimea takeover was done with very minimal bloodshed, admittedly only very few such examples exist in history. On the other hand the Iraqi invasion by the United states  and it allies was met with stiff and  deadly resistance from the Iraqi populace (although the then President of the United states George Bush famously used to refer  the resistance to the occupation as “a  bunch of hooligans”)- What resulted was the Death of over 4,000 American soldiers, with over 10,000 wounded. As for the Iraqis figures are hard to come by but conservative counts put it at over 100,000 Iraqis either dead or injured with thousands unaccounted for. Now looking at the reasons presented by both powers before the invasion- For the Russians it was the fact that the life of  Russian speaking Ukrainians were under threat from a Fascist/Nazi like Government in Kiev which they believed came to power illegitimately. For the Americans it was  that Saddam had amassed weapons of mass destruction and that his removal was good for the sustenance of global peace, that Saddam was a threat to his neighbors siting the invasion of Iran in the eighties and Kuwait in the nineties by Saddam, that the overthrow of Saddam and the establishment of Democracy would be the Panacea for the Middle East and its numerous dictators,  well we know the true story now. Back then the few voices inside America that were courageous enough to speak out in Public were quickly labeled anti American, Wisdom was fleeting at that time and common sense was no where, but as they say the rest is history now. Iraq today is Governed by Prime Minister  Nouri al-Maliki in a rather shaky Government characterized by ethnic and sectarian in fighting . Iraq’s increasingly divided and dysfunctional political system risks a relapse to violence if concrete steps are not taken by all stake holders including the U.S and Other Arab states to demand a much more inclusive Government at the center.

What happened with the invasion of Iraq by the U.S was that the very moral standing of the United States in the eyes of the world was destroyed, a situation that was further damaged  years latter by the Assange files and more recently the Snowden revelations. In as much as not speaking for Russia ,  at this point it becomes very hard for the United States to criticize or sanction Russia for there actions in Crimea as they lack the moral high ground to do so.

In Need of Answers

The incursion of armed militia (now we know Russian Army ) into Crimea came as a surprise to many, very few predicted that president Putin  would react once the Sochi games was over. Hate or Love Putin , one cannot but say that this takeover was done with swift military precision filled with an element of surprise, classical soviet style, take the initiate strategy. In all the talk of claims and counter claims, sanctions and counter sanctions, we must all try  to pause and ask certain questions. One how do the Ukrainians fit into all this, could this crisis have been avoided, if the Ukrainian  side had taken into account their Russian speakers, would this have degenerated into this ? Was this crisis all about joining the EU or its much more broader and complex – the very Russian identity of Crimea itself or is it the presence of the Russian Black feet – one that is of strategic importance to the Russian Military. As the days go by finding the right answers to the above will be crucial.
